Our History
Growing a Place for Hope and Healing
How It Began
In 2013, Susan and Jaime officially established the Richard Lambert Foundation as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing grief support to children, adults, and families. Soon after, they partnered with a professional grief counselor to host an eight-week grief support workshop for families in their community who had experienced the death of a loved one. The program saw remarkable participation and retention, demonstrating just how significant the need for grief support truly was.
What began as a small effort to bring people together in support grew into something much larger. With the help of compassionate professionals, community supporters, and other grieving families, that first workshop evolved into the Richard Lambert Foundation Family Grief & Healing Center—an organization dedicated to helping individuals find hope, healing, and connection after loss.
As the organization continued to grow, it became clear that the need for grief support extended beyond group workshops. Many individuals and families were seeking one-on-one counseling to help them navigate their grief more deeply. In response, the Richard Lambert Foundation expanded its services to include individual grief therapy beginning in 2015, helping children, adults, couples, and families receive the support they needed.
In 2017, a meaningful milestone occurred when the Estate of Richard Lambert helped Susan and Jaime purchase a permanent home for the Richard Lambert Foundation Family Grief & Healing Center. This dedicated space allowed the organization to expand its programs and create a welcoming environment where people could gather, share their stories, and find connection with others who understand the challenges of life after loss.
Today, the Richard Lambert Foundation continues to grow as a grassroots organization supported by community members, volunteers, donors, and professional counselors who believe in its mission. Through affordable counseling services, free support groups, and healing programs, the foundation remains committed to ensuring that no child, adult, or family has to face grief alone.
